Smita Patil (17 October 1955- 13 December 1986) was an Indian actress who mainly appears in Bollywood, TV and theaters. In just 10 years of Career, she appeared in over 80 movies of various language. She was married to Actor Raj Babbar.

She died at young age of 31. Her death cause is Brain infection due to child complications. She was died within 14 days of giving birth to his son Prateek Babbar. [1]

Smita Patil was born to Hindu Family in Village Bhatpure Distt Dhule, Maharashtara, India. Her father was a politician named Shivajirao Girdhar patil and mother was a social worker named Vidyatai Patil.

Talking about her Studies, she completed her Education from Renuka Swaroop Memorial high school in Pune.

During her bollywood career, she felt in love with Raj Babbar. Both met first time on the set of Bheegi Palken. After that She started with him in live-in.

But Raj Babbar was married to Nadira. For smita, he gave Divorced to Nadia. Then they both gets married.

After marriage, Smita gave birth to prateik Babar in 1986. Then, just within 14 days, she died due to infection or brain infection.

Death Cause/ Reason of Death

At the Age of 31, Smita Patil was died on 13 December, 1986. She was died due to Childbirth complication (Brain infections) within giving birth to prateik babbar.

Although there is controversy about her death. Almost two decades of her death, a film director Mrinal Sen alleged that Smita Patil was died due to medical negligence.

Samita patil did many movies, tv shows and also worked as News reader. She has worked with many famous directors including shyam benegal, Govind nahalani, Satyajit Rey and Mrinal Sen.

She was awarded with National Film award for his performance in fllm Bhumika. Smita patil did many movies with Rajesh Khanna namely Dil-E-Naadan, Aakhir Kyon, Anokha Rasta, Angaarey, Najrana and Amrit.

A song “Dushman na Kare Dost ne Woh Kaam Kiya Hai” became popular from movie aakhir kyun. She has done over 80 movies from all languages. Even 10 movies were released after her death.
